Whether it be for a wedding, anniversary, Valentines Day or any other special date, you need to look and feel your best.
Here is a great guideline to help you prepare:
A pedicure should last anywhere from 4-6 weeks so give yourself lots of time to get this in. If your time is limited closer to your event, get this step done up to 2 weeks ahead. Add a fresh topcoat each week to keep your toes looking freshly polished. I usually recommend having pedicures every 4 weeks and to remove polish from your nails after 6 weeks if you are not having them re-polished. Wearing polish longer than that can lead to white soft spots on the nails.
A Facial should be done about 3 weeks prior to your special event. This gives your skin lots of time to recover from any unexpected responses that may occur from deep cleansing. A good treatment can also include exfoliation which can lead to flaky skin a few days after your facial. Be prepared by following up with extra hydration for the week. Your professional will give you the best advice for soft, hydrated skin by the time your event arrives.
Sunscreen should also be worn daily to protect your skin from the damaging effects of the enviornment, sun, etc. Sunscreen is to remain on the surface of the skin in order to create a protective barrier. You do not want to go through the effort of applying sunscreen just to have it absorbed and no longer providing you any protection. This means you need to cleanse, tone, apply serums then moisturizers before applying sunscreen. I recommend a minimum 15SPF for off-season months and at least 30SPF during spring and summer months. If your area has sun into the fall, keep on wearing it! If you are spending many hours outdoors, you will need to re-apply your sunscreen every 2-3 hours. There are some really great products available now that are in a powder form and can last up to 8 hours without the need to re-apply AND are water-resistent, which is great news for those runners and surfers. If you are someone that falls into this category, contact me for some optimal products that can provide amazing protection with minimal care!
The last treatment on your list should be a manicure. You can extend yours to last up to 7 days by adding a clear topcoat every 3 days. Make sure not to have your hands soaking in water anytime during this week. Wear gloves when cleaning or using strong chemicals. Use cuticle cream and lotion often throughout the day.
Ask your professional about latest makeup trends or colours available. This will help you to be a 'standout' on your special date.
